Oscars college student experience and tutoring

Part 1:

Is this different than I thought it would be? To be honest people talk about college as stressful or the greatest and happiest moments of their lives…I hate it here. There is a lot to do and it’s a blessing and a curse to be able to go to class whenever you want or do assignments whenever you want. It’s asking me not to do it you know.

What am I struggling with? I find it very difficult to wake up and have the will to go to class and sit and listen to lectures and have huge work loads, basically everything I did in high school. I thought me graduating was me saying goodbye but I guess not. It’s hard to balance school, homework, work, my music life, and family/partner time.

What’s missing from my college experience? I feel like movies can glorify college or any experiences really and I expected college to be more welcoming or hype. I don’t know if its because its community college so its college but on a “lower level”. I’m glad that I am not getting it all right now and then it will really hit when I transfer to a 4 year college. It just feels a little empty sometimes but I still enjoy college and the new area and experience for me.

What do I need to change about how I do things? I think sometimes I need to change my attitude and how i see things. I don’t know about anyone else but for me complaining helps and I’m able to work but get that weight off my mind. I also need to organize myself and have a system that works for me so I can allow myself to not stress about everything and find some time for myself away from life and be in my own world.

Part 2: Tutoring information

You go to the Sacramento City College website and go onto the student resources tab and go down and click on tutoring and learning assistance. When you do you will have different resources to get help from based on what you need assistance with. You are able to do in person and online touring and its about 25-55 minutes in a group setting of people who also are struggling or needing help on the same subject so that you can all help each other understand and it gives you a chance to meet new people. Once you find a date that works you can find the location to meet typically the library or join and virtual class.

My tentative schedule for next semester
